About us
More Than Just a Dentist
The general term ‘dentist’ refers to a person who has earned a degree from an accredited school of dentistry, which is the science & art of teeth, associated bones & soft tissues, and related disorders. Dentistry is further broken down into specialties that require additional education & accreditation, so you found the right website if you are looking for a top orthodontist in Seoul who also happens to be a leading periodontist.
As an expert in orthodontics & periodontics, Dr. Kun-Sung Chung has been practicing in both fields for over three decades. Dr. Chung first went to the USA for orthodontic training at Harvard University and then moved on to periodontal instruction at Emory University, after which he became board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists and Diplomate of American Board of Periodontology. He is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and several other professional organizations in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Chung previously served as a clinical professor at Samsung Medical Center’s Department of Orthodontics and is currently a visiting professor at UCLA’s Department of Orthodontics. He lectures regularly both at home in South Korea and internationally in the fields of orthodontics and periodontics while also publishing research papers in several prestigious scientific journals.
what we do
Orthodontics vs Periodontics
Dr. Chung boasts over 30 years of practicing in the dental branches of orthodontics & periodontics, both of which are highly specialized dental fields:
- Orthodontists realign the teeth & jaws of patients via the use of braces, spacers, retainers, headgear, etc. Misaligned teeth are difficult to clean properly while also being more susceptible to loss associated with tooth decay & gum disease. Other related issues include those with the jaw, speech, gums, biting, and chewing. Orthodontics can improve the health, appearance, and durability of your teeth. So, why not choose a Harvard-trained orthodontist in Seoul?
- Periodontics combines the prefix ‘peri’, meaning “around” or “ about”, with the Greek word for tooth, ‘odon’. Practitioners in this field specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating periodontal disease in the areas that surround teeth, like gums and jaw bones. These professionals can also place dental implants and treat oral inflammation.
Our goal at Ivy Line Dental Clinic is to make your visit as informative & comfortable as possible, so we help you understand every treatment and financial option. After consulting with our treatment coordinator, Dr. Chung will meet with you to discuss any concerns you may have before conducting a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and jaw structures. After this, he will go over his findings and discuss the potential benefits of any treatments that have been indicated for you. Additional information might be necessary to finalize your custom orthodontic treatment plan, which could entail the taking of X-rays & photographs and/or putting together a study model. Dr. Chung will analyze your diagnostic records in an appointment that takes around 45 to 60 minutes to formulate a tailored treatment plan.
Orthodontic treatment is a valuable investment for one’s health and well-being, so we offer various payment plans since your finances should never be an obstacle to treatment. We accept most foreign insurance carriers and are happy to answer any insurance-related questions.
